Researchers of the University of Twente, in cooperation with BTG (as part of the Biocoup consortium) have reached a breakthrough in the conversion of biomass into liquid biofuel.

Nearby, a company called BioMCN recently opened the largest 2nd generation biofuel plant in the world. The company produces biomethanol, a fuel so powerful that professional rally-drivers now advocate its use in rally races.
