Pyrocell a joint venture of Setra and Preem, started production September 2021. The biofuel is mixed with other types of fuel resulting in a petrol and diesel that is partly composed of sustainable oil. This ensures that it will comply with the European RED II directive.
The Green Fuel Nordic Lieksa bio-oil refinery is located in the town of Lieksa, Finland. The Green Fuel Nordic Lieksa bio-oil refinery uses approximately 90,000 k-m3 of raw material per year, refined into 24,000 tons of bio-oil.
Empyro in Hengelo has been in operation since 2015, being the first commercial-scale 24/7 FPBO plant in the world. It produces 20 million litres of FPBO per year, used to replace natural gas in a steam boiler.
